Ripple Votes “Yes” for XRP Ledger Upgrade Amid Limited Support
Ripple has officially cast a “yes” vote for the fixCleanup3_3_0 amendment as part of its support for the XRP Ledger’s upcoming updates. The amendment seeks to implement a series of fixes included in the xrpld version 3.3.0, but it currently holds the backing of just 8 out of 35 validators on the default Unique Node List.
Early Voting Status
With the current voting standing, the amendment falls short of the necessary activation threshold. To take effect on the mainnet, proposals must secure over 80% support from trusted validators for two consecutive weeks. Given the 35 validators, this translates to needing at least 29 affirmative votes.
As it stands, the eight votes collected thus far do not commence the two-week activation period, and no date has been set for mainnet activation at this time.
Overview of Proposed Fixes
The fixCleanup3_3_0 amendment comprises several important corrections across various components of the XRP Ledger, which include:
- Single Asset Vaults
- Lending Protocol
- Automated Market Makers (AMMs)
- Permissioned Decentralized Exchange (DEX)
- Checks
- Pseudo-accounts
Key adjustments involve unifying freeze and deep-freeze checks for transfers involving pseudo-accounts and addressing multiple precision and rounding issues related to vault transactions and AMM operations.
Broader Context of XRPL Upgrades
Released on August 6, the xrpld version 3.3.0 encompasses the code required for fixCleanup3_3_0 along with five additional feature amendments. Each proposal must independently progress through the validator voting process before being integrated into the mainnet.
The five supplementary amendments include:
- ConfidentialTransfer
- BatchV1_1
- DynamicMPT
- PermissionDelegationV1_1
- Sponsor
Among these, the ConfidentialTransfer proposal aims to enhance privacy for Multi-Purpose Tokens, while BatchV1_1 introduces the capacity for packaging transactions. Previous versions of these proposals had been shelved due to security concerns.
XRP Market Reaction
In the wake of this development, XRP traded around $1.06, marking a recovery from the previous $1 range with a nearly 3% increase in the past 24 hours. However, derivatives market responses have shown varied trends, with total futures open interest showing a decline in some exchanges, indicating mixed positioning among traders.
Looking Ahead
As Ripple’s support for the fixCleanup3_3_0 amendment indicates encouraged progress for the XRP ecosystem, the requirement for additional validator support remains a critical factor in determining its future activation. The community will be closely monitoring the voting as it develops.
