AVAX One Reports $35.1 Million Quarterly Loss Amid Staking Growth
AVAX One, under the leadership of interim CEO Pete Wylie, has disclosed a significant $35.1 million loss in the second quarter of 2026. However, Wylie emphasizes that this figure largely reflects $33 million in non-cash charges, rather than operational deficits.
Financial Performance Breakdown
Despite the substantial loss, Wylie points out that the company’s actual operating performance is much healthier than the headline number suggests. After excluding the non-cash charges, AVAX One reported an adjusted net loss of $2.2 million. The company’s revenue from staking climbed dramatically, totaling $2.8 million for the quarter, with $2.1 million derived from staking activities alone.
AVAX One holds approximately 14.09 million AVAX tokens, with about 95% actively staked. Wylie states that the loss does not accurately represent the operating performance of its staking and digital infrastructure sectors, indicating a positive trajectory within those areas.
Impact of Market Valuation
According to the earnings report released on August 13, a substantial portion of the loss – around $29.8 million – is characterized as an unrealized markdown, associated with the market value fluctuations of digital assets. An additional $2.6 million impairment from liquid-staking tokens and about $600,000 from share-based compensation and depreciation also contributed to the financial results.
While the company’s reported loss signifies challenges, Wylie notes that staking rewards continue to accumulate, generating revenue irrespective of the price of AVAX. “We earn revenue in the form of AVAX tokens, and although the market price is currently less favorable, a price rebound would enhance the value of these rewards,” he stated.
Strategic Focus on Yield
Wylie reiterated that AVAX One’s strategy prioritizes partnerships with established yield generators, maintaining a conservative stance on debt. The company plans to allocate resources based on where they believe the potential for shareholder value creation is highest. This includes potential buybacks of AVAX, share repurchases, or funding infrastructure projects.
In the latest quarter, AVAX One repurchased approximately 144,755 shares as part of its authorized buyback program, totaling around 417,537 shares since November 2025. The liquidity situation as of June 30 was around $21.2 million, reduced from a previous $27.6 million at the end of 2025.
Looking Towards the Future
In light of the volatility in AVAX’s price, Wylie also revealed that the company restructured approximately $6.8 million of convertible debt and increased its cash and Bitcoin covenant from $100,000 to $3.5 million.
As AVAX One continues its operations, Wylie is optimistic about the potential for institutional interest in Avalanche, pointing to recent deployments in tokenized securities and stablecoin settlements as indicators of growth in the ecosystem.
