XRP Retail Trading Now Available on Licensed Hong Kong Exchange
OSL Digital Securities has officially launched XRP retail trading, granting local investors a new entry point into the cryptocurrency market. This milestone, announced on July 29, 2026, establishes OSL as the first platform licensed by Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) to offer retail investors direct access to XRP.
New Trading Options for Hong Kong Investors
The introduction allows retail users to trade XRP against the US dollar (XRP/USD) through the Flash Trade service. Additionally, OSL supports transactions in both XRP/USD and XRP/HKD via over-the-counter (OTC) trading. This development comes alongside XRP’s previous listing in December 2025, which was limited to professional investors.
A Regulated Venue for Cryptocurrency Trading
The Hong Kong dollar pairing provides a regulated avenue for local investors, who previously relied heavily on offshore exchanges lacking compliance with local licensing laws. OSL’s retail services now include a total of four digital assets – XRP, Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana – available for trading under its regulatory framework. The firm operates using Type 1 and Type 7 licenses from the SFC.
Safety and Compliance Measures
OSL ensures secure trading practices, with client assets backed by an insurance coverage of $1 billion. As the platform expands its offerings, this latest step reflects Hong Kong’s ongoing efforts to develop a structured cryptocurrency market.
Demand for XRP Grows Amid Regulatory Developments
Despite the retail launch, ongoing discussions around federal crypto legislation in the United States contrast sharply with Hong Kong’s rapid regulatory advancements. Ripple’s CEO, Brad Garlinghouse, has actively encouraged US lawmakers to progress the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, emphasizing the need for a clear regulatory framework amidst an evolving crypto landscape.
As OSL’s retail trading features become available, the platform not only champions smoother access to XRP for investors but also serves as a reminder of the distinct regulatory environments shaping the global cryptocurrency market.
