XRP Lags as Crypto Market Sees Recovery Amidst ETF Growth

XRP Takes a Step Back as Other Major Cryptos Rally

XRP has experienced a decline of approximately 5% over the past week, trading around $1.03. This downturn occurs despite other leading cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana making gains, as the overall crypto market saw a modest increase of 1.4%, elevating total market capitalization to $2.19 trillion.

ETF Inflows Continue for XRP, But at a Slower Pace

Interestingly, XRP-related exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have continued to attract net new investor capital for a fourth consecutive week. However, this influx has significantly diminished, dropping around 93% week-over-week to just $1 million, according to data from SoSoValue. In contrast, Bitcoin and Ether funds have garnered hundreds of millions during this time.

Regulatory Uncertainty Impacts Market Performance

Traders and analysts are attributing XRP’s underperformance to several factors, particularly ongoing regulatory uncertainty. Notably, the Senate has postponed discussions on the CLARITY Act, legislation that many anticipate will provide clarity on XRP’s regulatory status. This vote is not projected to occur before mid-September.

Market Sentiment and Long-Term Outlook

Despite the present challenges, there remains a sense of long-term optimism among some market participants. Jake Claver, chairman of Digital Ascension Group, expressed a positive outlook, suggesting that XRP appears to be positioning itself as a vital component of global finance. He stated, “XRP is looking more and more like it will claim its spot as a global bridge asset and possibly be recognized by the BIS as a tier-one asset in the future,” referring to the Bank for International Settlements classification for highly liquid assets.
