US Inflation Drops to 3.5%, Boosting Bitcoin Toward $65K

US Inflation Falls to 3.5%

In a surprising turn, U.S. inflation has cooled to 3.5% in June, down from 4.2% in May, as falling energy prices provided relief after months of escalating costs. This decline marks the first drop in five months and is lower than the anticipated 3.8% by market analysts.

Impact on Bitcoin

The softer inflation report has given a significant boost to Bitcoin, which has rebounded toward $65,000. After the Consumer Price Index (CPI) release, Bitcoin rose nearly 5%, reaching an intraday high of about $64,830 before stabilizing around $64,560.

Core Inflation Insights

Core inflation, which excludes food and energy prices, eased to 2.6% annually, down from 2.9%. While this is still above the Federal Reserve’s long-term target of 2%, it indicates a broader trend of easing inflation pressures.

Decline in Energy Prices

Energy prices have played a crucial role in the CPI’s downturn. Although they remain 15.7% higher than last year, this figure marks a significant decrease from the 23.5% increase noted in May. Gasoline prices fell by 9.7% in June, counteracting the rise in food costs, which increased by 0.2%.

Future Outlook

Despite the current positive momentum, uncertainties linger, especially regarding energy markets. Renewed tensions, particularly between the U.S. and Iran, pose risks that could affect future oil supplies and transportation costs.

Upcoming CPI Reports

The next CPI report, covering July, is scheduled for August 12. Market participants will be closely monitoring inflation indicators to see if the downward trend persists or if rising oil prices will reverse current gains.
