Trump Family Delays Sale of Maldives Resort Token Amid Regional Tensions

Trump Family Delays Maldives Resort Token Sale

World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency project associated with the Trump family, has postponed its plans to sell a token linked to a resort in the Maldives. The decision comes as ongoing conflicts in the region, specifically the Iran war, are disrupting travel and investment opportunities.

Impact of Regional Conflicts

The token was initially scheduled to be released next year, intended to offer investors a share of the revenue generated from loans that will finance the Trump-branded resort. However, sources familiar with the situation indicated that the political instability has prompted this delay.

Partnership with Securitize

In an effort to facilitate the token’s sale, World Liberty Financial partnered with Securitize in February. This collaboration was aimed at utilizing a real-world asset (RWA) platform to represent loan interests tied to the resort’s development in a digital format, making it tradable on the blockchain. At this time, the new timeline for the token’s listing remains unclear.

Market Response

Following the announcement of the delay, WLFI, the protocol’s native token, initially surged by 2.7% but ultimately lost its gains, returning to its previous value. Currently, WLFI is down by approximately 88.5% from its peak in September 2025.

Company’s Silence on the Matter

A spokesperson for World Liberty Financial declined to provide additional comments regarding the situation as reported.
