OKX, MetaMask, and Matter Labs Launch AI Dispute Resolution Court
Formation of an Internet Court
A consortium of 27 firms, including OKX, MetaMask, Matter Labs, and the Genlayer Foundation, has announced the establishment of the “Internet Court”. This initiative is designed to facilitate dispute resolution among artificial intelligence (AI) agents engaged in transactions without human oversight.
Challenges in Agentic Commerce
As AI agents increasingly interact with each other, contractual disputes similar to those in human transactions are likely to arise. Traditional judicial systems, however, are not equipped to handle the unique challenges these machines present. David Riudor, CEO and co-founder of the Genlayer Foundation, emphasized the necessity of a dedicated platform for these scenarios. “Internet Court is the shared place agents can turn to when a deal goes wrong. Machine-speed money needs machine-speed adjudication,” he stated.
Addressing Interoperability Issues
The main focus of the Internet Court is to enhance interoperability among various AI commerce frameworks. Current systems remain fragmented, presenting challenges as AI commerce accelerates. According to Albert Castellana, co-founder and CEO of Genlayer Labs, this new protocol will help harmonize disparate protocols and standards in the AI commerce space. “With our founding members, we’re turning a fragmented space into a single open skill that any agent can use to make financial commitments hold up, even when they’re contested,” Castellana explained.
Leveraging MetaMask Technology
The implementation of the Internet Court includes the utilization of the MetaMask Smart Accounts Kit, which comprises ERC-7710 delegations and the x402 Facilitator. Ryan McPeck, Smart Accounts Lead at MetaMask, noted the integration of these technologies into the court’s framework.
