Moneyflip CEO Accused in $40,000 Murder-for-Hire Scheme

Marcos Arturo Kleiman Tronllan, the CEO of Moneyflip, faces serious legal repercussions as he has been charged with a federal murder-for-hire scheme. Prosecutors allege that he paid undercover agents $40,000 to kidnap and murder a businessman over an unpaid debt.

Initial Arrest and Charges

Kleiman, 40, was arrested by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents in Miami on July 30, 2026. This action was taken in connection with a federal complaint filed in San Diego. As a Mexican citizen and lawful permanent resident in the United States, Kleiman has roots in both Mexico and the U.S. He previously operated Moneyflip under the name MXN Financial LLC before rebranding in 2025.

Details of the Allegations

The complaint outlines allegations that Kleiman sought out the murder of a Mexican businessman, indicating that he asked undercover agents about recovering a debt from this individual and subsequently agreed to pay for the kidnapping and killing.

Specifics reveal that Kleiman made several payments, including $5,000 cash and around 25,000 USDT, a stablecoin issued by Tether. Undercover agents had approached him earlier, requesting the conversion of approximately $750,000 into cryptocurrency, which was allegedly derived from drug sales. Kleiman accommodated the request and charged a ten percent fee for this service.

Investigation Background

The investigation into Kleiman began as authorities probed various currency exchange businesses within San Diego and Imperial counties. They suspected that he may have used cross-border transactions to evade Bank Secrecy Act reporting requirements and launder drug-related proceeds.

Staged Evidence and Payment Transactions

In May, agents reportedly received an initial $5,000 deposit from Kleiman, followed by another advance of $5,000 to secure the supposed killers. On July 28, undercover agents presented Kleiman with staged photographs and a video depicting the businessman as having been captured. In response, Kleiman confirmed that he would proceed with the payment.

Just a day before his arrest, he delivered an additional $5,000 in cash and transferred about 25,000 USDT to an undercover agent’s cryptocurrency wallet.

Potential Consequences

Kleiman now faces a single count of murder-for-hire under Title 18, Section 1958(a) of the U.S. Code. This charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000.

The prosecution is led by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Michael Deshong and Christopher Beeler, with HSI spearheading the investigation, supported by numerous federal and local law enforcement agencies.
