According to reports, the couple was taken from their home by several armed assailants around 4 a.m.. The attackers reportedly demanded access to a significant amount of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. After the initial confrontation, the assailants transported the couple to separate locations.

The man was later found in Solférino, approximately 20 kilometers from Rion-des-Landes, where authorities located him naked and with several cuts on his body.
