FG Nexus Concludes Ethereum Strategy Amid $45.2 Million Loss

FG Nexus Ends Ethereum Strategy Following Significant Loss

FG Nexus has sold all of its digital assets, completing the exit from its Ethereum treasury strategy less than a year after its inception. This decision, disclosed in an August 12 filing, comes in the wake of a staggering $45.207 million loss, as the company reclassifies its digital asset operations as discontinued.

Financial Impact of Exit

Throughout the first half of 2026, FG Nexus’s digital asset operations reported a total loss of $45.2 million, which included a $41.167 million loss on Ethereum holdings, $2.793 million in impairments on digital intangible assets, and $1.789 million in general administrative expenses. In contrast, staking activities generated only $144,000 in revenue.

Despite these losses, the company managed to raise $60.956 million from Ethereum sales. Additionally, another $14.983 million was receivable at the end of June, which has since been collected. At the conclusion of the quarter, FG Nexus held no cryptocurrency.

A Shift Toward Real Estate Investments

Having managed to liquidate its Ethereum treasury, FG Nexus plans to redirect funds toward the manufactured housing sector, although no definitive agreements regarding new partnerships have been made. The board has authorized the creation of a real estate operating subsidiary that will focus primarily on land lease properties. CEO Kyle Cerminara has stated that the aim is to transition capital from the crypto space towards cash flow-producing real estate.

Future Prospects and Corporate Strategy

With the liquidity gained from the Ethereum sales, FG Nexus has reported having approximately $51.4 million in cash by the end of July, following the collection of receivables and additional funds from share redemptions. The company has not confirmed any specific transactions as part of its newly adopted manufactured housing strategy and continues to explore potential collaborations, including discussions related to FG Communities.

The exit from the cryptocurrency market marks a notable shift for FG Nexus, which had aimed to establish itself as a significant holder of ETH just less than a year prior. This transition encapsulates the challenges associated with the volatility of treasury strategies in the crypto market.
