Bitcoin Surges Past $65,000 as Inflation Data Approaches
Bitcoin has climbed above $65,000, posting a nearly 3% gain over the past week. This rise comes ahead of the U.S. consumer price data set to be released on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. ET. The increase follows a weak jobs report from last Friday, which eased concerns about potential additional interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve.
Market Overview
As Bitcoin approaches this milestone, other cryptocurrencies are also seeing positive movement. Ether is trading around $1,919, and has also gained about 3% this week. Meanwhile, BNB has risen 0.3% to $603, matching similar weekly performance.
Performance of Major Cryptocurrencies
- Solana emerged as the strongest major cryptocurrency, increasing by 1% today to nearly $77, with a total increase of almost 5% over the week.
- XRP, however, is trailing behind, slipping 0.4% to $1.03 and experiencing a 4% drop for the week.
Other notable cryptocurrencies include Hyperliquid’s HYPE, which fell over 1% to $54 yet remains up over 3% for the week, and Dogecoin, which has dropped to under 7 cents.
Equities and Commodities Affect Market Sentiment
On the equities front, the MSCI All Country World Index rose 0.1%, continuing an upward trend with gains in seven of the last eight sessions. The Asian markets saw a 0.6% increase following the soft jobs report that allowed the S&P 500 to reach a record high.
In commodities, Brent crude oil rose 1% to $84.40 per barrel, following tensions regarding talks between Iran and the U.S.
Looking Ahead
As the market prepares for upcoming inflation data, Friday’s jobs report has provided a boost for Bitcoin. However, a higher inflation figure could prompt a reconsideration of interest rates, potentially impacting Bitcoin’s trajectory.
