B2C2 Appoints Former Schroders Executive to Expand Crypto Services in Asia
B2C2 Expands Team to Strengthen Crypto Ties in Asia
Institutional crypto liquidity provider B2C2 has announced the appointment of Jason Lai, the former chairman of Schroders Wealth Management Asia, as a senior adviser based in Singapore. This strategic move aims to enhance B2C2’s connections with family offices, funds, and asset managers throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
Veteran Experience in Wealth Management
Lai brings extensive experience from Asia’s private wealth industry, including founding Thirdrock Group, an independent wealth and asset manager established in 2009, which was acquired by Schroders in 2019. After the acquisition, Lai held leadership positions as CEO of Asia’s wealth management unit and later served as chairman until his retirement in 2026.
Growing Interest in Digital Assets
This appointment comes amid a notable trend where traditional wealth managers and family offices in Asia are increasingly investing in digital assets. A report by Boston Consulting Group projects that assets under management in the region will reach $99 trillion by 2029, with Singapore and Hong Kong emerging as critical financial centers. Furthermore, Goldman Sachs notes that approximately one-third of family offices globally have already invested in cryptocurrencies.
Asia’s Crypto Market Dynamics
Asia is becoming a key battleground where the retail and institutional spheres of crypto intersect. According to Chainalysis, the Asia-Pacific region experienced the fastest growth in on-chain activity in the year leading up to June 2025, with transaction volumes rising by 69% to $2.36 trillion. Notably, India has topped global adoption rankings, while Singapore and Hong Kong are vying to position themselves as regulated digital asset hubs.
Potential for Further Growth
Commenting on his new role, Lai stated, “Asia’s wealthiest families and managers are increasingly investing in digital assets. B2C2 has the liquidity and execution infrastructure this client base needs.” His appointment reflects B2C2’s efforts to expand its footprint in the region, particularly in payments and services tailored for family offices, amidst news of potential acquisition discussions that the firm has engaged in over the past year and a half.
