Bitcoin Dips Below $64,000 Amid Oil Price Surge and AI Market Fallout
Bitcoin Dips Below $64,000
Bitcoin has experienced a decline, falling to about $63,900 on Monday, marking a drop of 1.3% for the day. Despite this dip, the cryptocurrency is still up by 2% for the week. The market dynamics are being influenced by a combination of rising oil prices due to ongoing conflicts and a negative impact from recent selloffs in AI-related stocks.
Oil Prices Surge Amid Geopolitical Tensions
Brent crude oil prices have surged to a one-month high, exceeding $91 per barrel, as the situation involving the U.S. and Iran escalates. This spike in oil prices has reignited inflation concerns that were alleviated by recent softer U.S. price data.
Impact on Other Cryptocurrencies
In addition to Bitcoin, other major cryptocurrencies are also struggling. Ethereum has decreased by 1.1% to $1,850, BNB is down 0.8% at $564, while XRP has slipped to $1.09. Dogecoin has faced a 1.4% loss as well, and Hyperliquid’s HYPE is the weakest performer this week, dropping 8% to $60.
Continued Pressure on AI-Related Stocks
The negative sentiment from the AI sector continues to weigh down on chip stocks, following a significant selloff on Friday. South Korea’s Kospi index reflects this trend, plummeting 3.5% amidst fears impacting the broader market.
As markets react to these economic signals, the interplay between oil prices and technology stocks remains a concern for investors, further complicating the outlook for cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.
