Bitcoin Holds Near $63K as HYPE and LINK Lead Altcoin Surge

Bitcoin Consolidates Around $63K

As of August 17, Bitcoin’s price is trading around $63,460, experiencing a slight recovery of 0.7% over the past 24 hours. However, the cryptocurrency has declined 2.3% on a weekly basis, reflecting a market that continues to struggle for momentum.

Market Overview

The broader cryptocurrency market is valued at approximately $2.24 trillion, with Bitcoin’s market capitalization nearing $1.27 trillion. Currently, Bitcoin dominance hovers around 57%.

Despite a minor uptick in price, Bitcoin remains below the previous week’s high of ~$65,000, having dropped as low as $62,500 before stabilizing over the weekend. Other cryptocurrencies, such as Ethereum, XRP, and Solana, have also shown varied weekly performances.

ETF Outflows and Market Response

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded net outflows of about $390 million last week, marking a shift from previous inflows which had seen $853.5 million during the five sessions prior. This downturn is partially attributed to Fidelity’s FBTC, which accounted for roughly $153 million in outflows.

Altcoin Performance

Among altcoins, Hyperliquid’s HYPE demonstrated robust performance, trading at around $58.81 – up 3.4% over the last 24 hours and 8.7% over the past week. Chainlink (LINK) also had a strong showing, currently priced at approximately $9.45, reflecting a weekly gain of 15.7%.

On the contrary, while Bitway was the top daily gainer with an increase of 22.3%, assets such as Stable and Quant experienced notable declines. Overall, the altcoin market exhibited a mixture of gains and losses as trading progressed.

Technical Analysis and Market Outlook

From a technical perspective, Bitcoin appears to be consolidating after substantial pullbacks. Trading remains within a range, with $60,000 identified as a key support level. Although the Aroon Oscillator indicates some positive momentum, other indicators, including the MACD, suggest bearish conditions may still persist.

The upcoming week will see the Federal Reserve release minutes from its July meeting, during which policymakers voted to maintain the current interest rate range. Investors in the cryptocurrency space will closely monitor this development alongside discussions on regulatory frameworks in Washington.

In summary, while Bitcoin seeks to break past the $65,000 resistance zone, altcoins like HYPE and LINK continue to show potential for gains despite Bitcoin’s recent struggles.
