Solana Launches on XRP Ledger’s DEX Amid Issuer Caution
Solana can now be traded on the XRP Ledger’s (XRPL) native decentralized exchange (DEX), utilizing a wrapped SOL asset issued through Axelar. This development enhances interoperability between the Solana and XRP Ledger ecosystems.
Wrapped SOL Available on XRPL
The availability of the Axelar-issued wrapped SOL marks a significant step for users looking to engage with Solana assets on the XRP Ledger. Trading interfaces such as XPMarket, First Ledger, and Magnetic facilitate access to this wrapped SOL asset. Notably, Xaman users can trade SOL through the wallet’s swap interface.
Issuer Warning from XRPL Foundation
Hussein Zangana, a director at the XRPL Foundation, stressed the importance of recognizing Axelar as the only legitimate wrapped SOL issuer currently on the XRP Ledger. His warning serves as a crucial reminder, as tokens on the XRPL are identified by both their currency code and the issuing account, rather than just the ticker code alone.
“Very important this is the only legitimate issuer currently. Beware of fakes,” said Zangana.
Key Verification Process
Zangana emphasized the need for users to verify the Axelar issuer address before engaging in trading activities. The official XRPL EVM documentation lists the mainnet gateway address for Axelar as rfmS3zqrQrka8wVyhXifEeyTwe8AMz2Yhw, essential for secure cross-chain asset transfers.
Background on Axelar’s Integration
This trading rollout builds upon Axelar’s integration of Solana with the XRPL that was established on June 3, creating capabilities for cross-chain messaging and asset transfers. This connection allows for interaction with over 70 supported ecosystems, enhancing the fluidity and functionality between different blockchain environments.
Prominent Wrapped Asset Concerns
As previously highlighted, the introduction of wrapped assets adds layers of complexity and dependencies across networks, which may raise risks. Previous exploitation incidents in cross-chain bridges underscore the critical need for verification of asset issuers.
Future Prospects for SOL on XRPL
The key question moving forward is whether liquidity and user adoption will increase post-launch. The marketplace XPMarket has already established an SOL/XRP trading pair tied to the Axelar Bridge, while developers are encouraged to create more cross-chain applications between Solana and XRP Ledger.
With no separate native SOL existing on the XRP Ledger, users must remain vigilant against claims of other issuers representing official SOL unless verified by Axelar or other credible sources.
The clear advisory from Zangana: “Beware of fakes.”
