Tudor Investment Firm Boosts BlackRock Bitcoin ETF Stake After Year of Reductions
Tudor Investment Firm Raises Stake in BlackRock Bitcoin ETF
Paul Tudor Jones’ investment firm has increased its direct stake in BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) during the second quarter of the year. According to a recent 13F filing, the firm raised its holdings by 18.9% to a total of 688,529 shares, which were valued at approximately $22.9 million as of June 30.
Changes in Option Positions
Alongside increasing its ETF stake, Tudor Investment also reduced its reported call option positions. The firm’s call options fell significantly by 85.2%, dropping to 148,000 underlying shares, from nearly 998,000 in March. Its put positions saw a smaller decline of 1.4%, decreasing to 715,000 underlying shares.
Historical Context of Holdings
Tudor Investments first disclosed a stake of 869,565 IBIT shares in mid-2024, which peaked at 8.05 million shares worth $427 million by the end of that year. Following this peak, the firm consistently reduced its holdings throughout 2025, closing December with just 576,523 shares.
Market Comparisons and Current Position
Despite the recent increase, Tudor’s current investment remains 91.4% below the peak of late 2024, accounting for only a small fraction of the firm’s total portfolio, which is valued at $71.9 billion. Jones has positioned bitcoin as a hedge against inflation, previously stating that “all roads lead to inflation” and highlighting Bitcoin’s fixed supply as a crucial factor in his investment strategy.
