Binance bStocks Surpasses $610 Million, Overtakes xStocks Within Two Months

Binance bStocks Achieves Rapid Growth

In a remarkable development in the cryptocurrency financial sector, Binance bStocks has surpassed $610 million in issuer value, making it the second-largest tokenized stock issuer, just two months after its launch in June. This rapid ascent occurred as bStocks overtook xStocks, which held approximately $601.2 million in value as of this week.

Market Context and Competition

According to data from Token Terminal, the overall market for tokenized equities has witnessed significant growth, skyrocketing from about $80 million one year ago to nearly $2.7 billion today. With Ondo Finance as the largest issuer at around $927 million, bStocks’ recent success underscores the intense competition in the tokenized stock market.

Factors Behind bStocks’ Success

Changpeng Zhao, co-founder of Binance, attributed the swift rise of bStocks to the exchange’s established user base, which provided immediate access to a broad pool of crypto traders. Initial trading figures indicated an impressive average of $143 million in daily trading volume during the first nine days of operation, totaling over $1 billion in turnover, and peaking at 30,700 daily active traders.

How bStocks Functions

Binance’s bStocks enable eligible investors to acquire blockchain-based representations of U.S. stocks, allowing for trading outside standard market hours. Each tokenized stock is backed 1:1 by the actual underlying security. However, holders do not receive voting rights or the associated privileges of direct stock ownership.

Expansion Plans in Traditional Equities

In addition to the launch of bStocks, Binance has outlined ambitions to broaden access to traditional equities, planning to offer more than 7,000 U.S. stocks and ETFs. This initiative includes options for fractional purchases starting at $5, with funding available through various cryptocurrencies.

The Evolving Landscape of Tokenized Stocks

As competition intensifies, other platforms like Ondo and Robinhood are also expanding their tokenized stock offerings. The overall growth in this sector highlights a burgeoning interest in integrating blockchain technology with traditional equity markets. With projections indicating potential growth by billions in the next few years, the future of tokenized assets looks promising.
