Kalshi Introduces Live Market Data Service via DoubleZero Edge
On August 12, 2026, Kalshi announced the opening of its live order book to subscribers of DoubleZero Edge. This collaboration allows users to access Level 1 and Level 2 market data, covering both sports contracts and crypto perpetual futures via a dedicated fiber network.
Real-Time Data Availability
Kalshi marks a milestone as the first prediction market to offer real-time order book data through the DoubleZero Edge platform. Subscribers will benefit from comprehensive insights, which include Top of Book and Trades information, known as Level 1 data. This provides the best available bid and ask prices along with completed trades. Level 2 data enhances this by offering Depth of Book information, showcasing orders at multiple price levels.
Streamlined Data Access
Prior to this development, firms accessing Kalshi data had to manually aggregate information using the exchange’s application programming interfaces. DoubleZero Edge streamlines this by packaging the data into a subscription product that reduces internal processing work for users. The service covers all sports events and crypto perpetual futures included in Kalshi’s offerings.
Cost Structure and Future Plans
While the subscription fee for the service has not been disclosed, Kalshi will waive its publisher revenue share for the first year of the data feed, making it more accessible for users. Despite the waiver, subscribers must still meet connection requirements and pay network fees to access the data. Historical data may be added in future releases, but specific details regarding its availability remain unclear.
Infrastructure and Speed
DoubleZero utilizes multicast distribution over a dedicated fiber network, enabling it to deliver data more efficiently than traditional methods reliant on public internet. This infrastructure has been likened to that used by established traditional exchanges, ensuring faster and more reliable access to real-time market data.
Expanding Market Reach
Furthermore, Kalshi’s crypto data service expands on its recent endeavors into regulated perpetual futures after obtaining approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) for its Bitcoin perpetual futures contracts. This allows U.S. traders to access essential derivatives markets domestically, while also providing vital order book information through the new DoubleZero connection.
Regulatory Context
Despite the advancements, Kalshi continues to navigate complex regulatory challenges, especially related to its sports betting markets. Various state challenges over licensing issues persist, which may influence the platform’s operations. Nevertheless, Kalshi maintains that it operates under the CFTC’s authority for its federally regulated exchange, aiming to resolve these legal questions progressively.
