Bitcoin Holds Steady at $63,600 as Metaplanet Transfers 3,881 BTC
Bitcoin Steadies at $63,600
Bitcoin is currently priced at $63,600, as noted by various market analysts. During this time, Japan’s treasury firm, Metaplanet, executed a significant transfer of cryptocurrency.
Massive BTC Transfer by Metaplanet
Metaplanet moved 3,881 BTC, valued at around $247 million, between its own wallets on Wednesday. This transfer does not represent a sale, as the transactions involved only the shifting of funds from the company’s cold wallets to new addresses that it controls, rather than to an exchange.
Nature of the Transfer
According to blockchain data provided by Arkham, this operation spanned several transactions over three hours. Previous actions by Metaplanet have shown similar trends; the firm shifted nearly 5,000 BTC back in March in a comparable manner, seen as internal custody restructuring rather than liquidation.
Current Holdings and Losses
Metaplanet has accumulated around 43,000 BTC at an average purchase price of around $96,000. With Bitcoin trading at its current price, the company faces an unrealized loss of approximately $1.4 billion, equating to a 34% decline in value.
Metaplanet’s Acquisition Strategy
This firm has emerged as one of the most proactive corporate buyers of Bitcoin since April 2024, with aspirations to acquire a total of 210,000 BTC.
