Strategy Sells $108.6 Million in Bitcoin for STRC Buyback

Strategy Sells $108.6 Million in Bitcoin for STRC Buyback

In a recent move, Strategy has sold 1,690 Bitcoin for $108.6 million to finance the repurchase of its preferred stock, STRC. This transaction occurred between August 3 and August 9, 2026, and reported an average selling price of $64,262 per Bitcoin.

Use of Proceeds

The proceeds from the sale have been entirely allocated towards repurchasing 1,152,020 shares of STRC. Consequently, Strategy’s Bitcoin holdings have decreased to 840,447 BTC, a significant reduction after having acquired these assets at an average price of $75,385 per BTC.

Previous Bitcoin Sales

This sale marks the second consecutive week in which Strategy has opted to sell Bitcoin. The prior week, the company disposed of 1,638 BTC for $104.7 million, funding approximately $52.4 million in STRC dividends and stock repurchase. These activities reflect Strategy’s ongoing commitment to support its STRC shares over adding new Bitcoin to its reserves.

STRC Preferred Shares Performance

The STRC preferred shares experienced a decline to around $72 in late June but have since rebounded to about $94.30 as of August 10, 2026, marking an increase of more than 30% from that low. However, the shares remain under pressure as they encounter resistance around their 50-day moving average.

Increase in Dollar Reserves

In addition to the Bitcoin sale, Strategy generated approximately $653.1 million from the sale of over 6.5 million MSTR shares. This has raised its dollar reserves to $4.65 billion, further strengthening its liquidity position. The funds are earmarked to cover preferred-stock dividends and interest payments.

Future Outlook

Strategy continues to be the largest publicly disclosed corporate holder of Bitcoin, as it marks six years since initiating its Bitcoin acquisition strategy. As the company focuses on supporting STRC, it remains to be seen whether it will continue to reduce its Bitcoin reserve or return to accumulation in the near future.
