Empery Digital Sells Half of Its Bitcoin Holdings to Fund AI Expansion

Empery Digital Sells Half of Its Bitcoin Holdings

Empery Digital (EMPD) has recently sold approximately half of its Bitcoin (BTC) stack, announcing the sale of 1,400 BTC at a price of $62,200 each. This transaction has generated proceeds totaling $87.1 million for the company.

Shift Towards AI Investments

The funds raised from the Bitcoin sale will assist Empery Digital in closing a $65 million deal for a 25% stake in a group acquiring a facility in the Midwest, which is set to be converted into an AI data center.

Market Conditions and Company Strategy

Empery Digital was formed during the wave of SPAC deals in 2025, aimed at digital asset treasury investments. However, many companies from that time have experienced significant declines in share prices, falling by 90% or more from their previous highs.

The company still holds 1,514 BTC but has no plans to increase its Bitcoin holdings. Instead, Empery Digital may consider further sales of BTC to capitalize on other promising opportunities. Co-CEO Ryan Lane stated, “Going forward, we plan to continue to allocate capital to similar hyperscaler-anchored opportunities.”

Implications for the Crypto Market

This move by Empery Digital comes against a backdrop of increasing sales of digital assets by several companies that bought heavily during the 2025 boom, which may suggest a broader market trend as firms adjust their strategies in the evolving economic landscape.
