Bitcoin Nears $64K Amid Strategy Sale and Coldcard Concerns

Bitcoin Price Reaches $64K Mark Amid Market Dynamics

The price of Bitcoin surged to approximately $63,800 on August 4, 2026, following a decline to an intraday low of about $62,227. This rebound comes despite significant sell-offs by the cryptocurrency management firm Strategy, which sold 1,638 Bitcoin for roughly $104.7 million to fund corporate initiatives.

Recent Market Movements and Strategy’s Impact

As the broader cryptocurrency markets showed positive trends, Bitcoin recovered to a peak of $64,117 before settling around $63,545. This marked an increase of about 1.6% over the previous 24 hours. Strategy’s recent disclosures indicate that they directed funds towards preferred stock dividends and stock repurchases.

Specifically, the SEC filing released by Strategy detailed the sale of Bitcoin occurring between July 27 and August 2, with an average sale price of $63,957. In total, Strategy now retains 842,138 BTC, valued at around $63.51 billion.

Coldcard Wallet Vulnerabilities and Their Implications

Significant concerns surround the Coldcard wallet, with Galaxy Research linking recent activity to a suspected fourth wave of Coldcard-related issues. It was reported that 448.7 BTC moved from what are considered possible victim addresses, totaling approximately 1,815.75 BTC across the various waves identified.

Users are advised that while new firmware secures newly generated wallet seeds, existing vulnerable seeds require complete migration to new security measures. This has led to a greater volume of transactions, as users seek to protect their assets.

Market Sentiment and Future Outlook

The market remains mixed, with Asian equities fluctuating and Bitcoin’s ability to maintain above the $63,000 level critical for future price stability. Analysts suggest that a potential retest of the $60,000 mark could be bullish, forming a vital technical pattern that could signal a move upwards toward $66,500.

However, failure to hold above this key level could lead to further declines, potentially revisiting support around $56,000.
