Bitwise Announces NRR Ticker for NEAR ETF in SEC Filing

Bitwise Announces NRR Ticker for NEAR ETF in SEC Filing

Bitwise Asset Management has revealed that the proposed ticker for its NEAR ETF will be NRR, as stated in an amended filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on July 31, 2026. This filing marks a significant step forward in Bitwise’s intention to create a spot ETF backed by the NEAR cryptocurrency.

Details of the Filing

The latest amendment, labeled as Amendment No. 3 to the registration statement, indicates that if approved, the fund would be listed for trading on NYSE Arca. The filing also included a seed capital investment of $200 from Bitwise, which financed eight shares priced at $25 each.

Staking Strategy

Bitwise plans to stake up to 100% of its NEAR holdings, aiming to generate additional income through protocol rewards. This strategy is designed to differentiate the NEAR ETF from others that merely track cryptocurrency prices. However, it introduces risks associated with validator performance and liquidity, as the trust may need to maintain liquid NEAR to handle redemptions and operational expenditures.

Market Impact

The news has influenced the price of NEAR, which has experienced a rise of approximately 4%, trading around $1.73. Futures open interest also saw a significant increase of nearly 6%, reflecting growing interest in leveraged positions on NEAR.

Broader Market Trends

Bitwise is among several firms looking to expand the range of digital asset offerings in the US. Recently, Morgan Stanley launched exchange-traded products for Ethereum and Solana, allowing investors access to a broader spectrum of cryptocurrencies. If the NEAR ETF is approved, it would further diversify the available offerings in the market.

The Road Ahead

Despite the positive steps taken by Bitwise, the approval of the NEAR ETF remains uncertain and dependent on regulatory processes. Previous attempts by other asset managers highlight the challenges in gaining traction in this evolving market. Future amendments to the filing may provide greater clarity regarding management fees and other operational details.
