Polymarket Launches Marketing Campaign to Regain U.S. Trust Post-Ban

Polymarket’s Comeback Strategy in the U.S.

Polymarket is gearing up for a significant marketing campaign aimed at restoring its reputation in the United States following a four-year ban. The prediction market’s head of U.S. operations, Dan Lee, revealed that the initiative includes influencer-driven marketing efforts and partnerships with major sports teams, including Major League Baseball, as well as prominent media outlets such as CNBC and CNN.

Building Trust and Legitimacy

The marketing blitz will target policymakers, regulators, and potential users to convince them of the platform’s trustworthiness, according to an Associated Press report. Lee stated, “I think having the international business being the bulk of the volume, it often sort of masks the progress we are making here in the U.S. to broaden Polymarket’s acceptance.” The company has enhanced its presence on social media, boasting 1.7 million followers on its X account, with frequent updates on current events.

A Response to Past Scrutiny

This campaign follows recent investigations into Polymarket’s practices. A Wall Street Journal report had indicated that the platform allegedly employed paid influencers to promote simulated trades and winnings on social media without appropriate sponsorship disclosures. The company, however, asserted its commitment to maintaining accurate, fair, and transparent markets.

History of Regulatory Challenges

Polymarket’s legal challenges date back to four years ago when it agreed to cease operations for U.S. customers as part of a $1.4 million settlement with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) due to allegations of offering unregistered event-based derivatives. In late 2024, law enforcement officials conducted a raid on the home of CEO Shayne Coplan amid investigations into whether the platform continued to serve U.S. users against the prior agreement. Ultimately, investigations by U.S. prosecutors and the CFTC were closed without charges.

A New Era for U.S. Operations

Since December 2025, Polymarket has aimed to rehabilitate its standing in the U.S. market with the introduction of a mobile app that allows users to participate in sports event betting with real money, all under CFTC supervision. At this point, Polymarket has not publicly responded to requests for comment regarding the recent campaign.
